Winners Announced in 2021 Youth Swine Judging Contest

Columbia, MO, August 20, 2021 — On Friday, August 13, 112 FFA and 4-H members participated in the 2021 Swine Judging Contest at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia. Winners were announced in the Novice, Junior, Senior and Pro Division. The top individual was recognized in each division, as team member and individual scores were evaluated. Teams were recognized for first, second and third overall. The contest, sponsored by the Missouri Pork Association, consisted of four swine judging classes and two sets of 5 questions. Prizes were sponsored by Team Sloan Livestock, M&R Genetics, Judging Pro, Lance Martin Show pigs, Perry Genetics, Croy Farms, Sims Feed and Supply, Menne Show pigs, H&H Show Supplies, Show Pig Connection, Bowen Show pigs and Parrott Family Show pigs. The top three teams in each division received personalized prizes for their ranking, and top individuals were awarded belt buckles to recognize their accomplishment.

 

In the Pro Division, first overall went to the NCMC Livestock Judging Team. Team members included Hunter Heussner, Allena Allen and Brady Farris. The top individual award went to Jake Butyenek.

 

In the Senior Division, first overall was awarded to the Bates County Team with team members Isabel Lowe, Kayde Colin and Clayton Ferguson. Second overall went to the Cassville FFA Team – Tierany Sloan, Timothy Hudson and Jaret Hinson. Third overall recognized the Fair Grove FFA Team that included Hannah Morris, Taylor Rode and Braden Booth. The top individual was awarded to Timothy Hudson.

 

In the Junior Division, first overall went to the Bates County Jr. Team that included Reagan O’Farrell, Calli Ferguson, Blain Tricky and Kenton Merrifield. Second overall was awarded to the Show Kids Team – Cass Kleeman, Jorge Ebert, Kade Kleeman and Carlie Kleeman. Third overall was the Bacon Makers Team that included Kaden Roberts, Makenna Merrifield, Lillian Letterman and Mikayla Werkmeister. The top individual was presented to Calli Ferguson.

 

In the Novice Division, first overall was awarded to the Nodaway Noise Makers – Lily Baker, Jordann Doty and Dawson Blackford. Second overall went to the Caldwell County Team that included Aubree Sloan, Clara Copenhaver, Katelyn Pollard and Gus Shoen. Third overall was the Mighty Pigs team that included Henry Humphrey, Gideon Humphrey and Rowan Humphrey. The top individual was awarded to Kassidie Eagleburger.
