Winners Announced in 2016 Youth Swine Judging Contest

Columbia, Mo.,—On Friday, August 12, over 40 FFA and 4-H members participated in the 2016 Youth Swine Judging Contest at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia. Winners were announced in both the Junior and Senior Division on an individual basis and as a team. The contest, sponsored by the Missouri Pork Association, consisted of four swine judging classes and two sets of ten questions.

 

In the Senior Division, top team honors went to the Barracuda Team. Team members included Tate Welch, Wyatt Ellis, Eli Henke and Soyer Wimer. The second place Linn County Team included Audrey Martin, Clayton Moore and Lauren Parks. In third place was the Boone 4-H Team of Derek Strawn, Justin Rhine and Aaron Mott. The top individual in the Senior Division went to Tanner Ellison from Baring.

 

In the Junior Division, top team honors went to the Niners Team—members included Tyne Wilson, Callie Jennings, Clayton Jennings and Remington Isaacs. The second place Threshers Team included Taylor Smith, Peter Littlefield and Andrew Watt. In third place was the Martin Family Team of Curtis Humphreys, Colin Humphreys, Elliott Cooley and Elyse Cooley. Cole Murphy from Houstonia was the top individual in the Junior Division.

 

The top three teams and the highest individual in each division received a cash award, while the first place individual and each first place team member in each division also received a plaque.
