Missouri Students Participate in 2018 Youth Swine Judging Contest

Columbia, Mo.,—On Friday, August 10, over 40 FFA and 4-H members participated in the 2018 Youth Swine Judging Contest at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia. Winners were announced in both the Junior and Senior Division on an individual basis and as a team. The contest, sponsored by the Missouri Pork Association, consisted of four swine judging classes and two sets of ten questions.

 

In the Senior Division, top team honors went to the Judging Pro.com Team. Team members included Marlena Long, Carlee Long, Tate Welch and Eli Henke. The second place Chillicothe Pig Team included Julia Stimpson, Alex Heussenr and Lilly Smith. In third place was the Bowling Green Team of Abbie Waddell, Clint Bailey, Gracie Deters and Clara Bailey. The top individual in the Senior Division went to Marlena Long.

 

In the Junior Division, top team honors went to the 3 C’s and an E Team—members included Elliott Cooley, Carson Price, Callie Jennings and Clayton Jennings. The second place Adrian Team included Kameran Collier, Cameron Killeen, Riley Spurgeon and Brooke Nowack. In third place was the Livingston Team of Emily Schreiner, Jaycie Stimpson and Lylah Smith. Elliott Cooley was the top individual in the Junior Division.

 

The top three teams and the highest individual in each division received a cash award, while the first place individual and each first place team member in each division also received a plaque.
