Missouri Students Participate in 2017 Youth Swine Judging Contest

Columbia, Mo.,—On Friday, August 11, 60 FFA and 4-H members participated in the 2017 Youth Swine Judging Contest at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia. Winners were announced in both the Junior and Senior Division on an individual basis and as a team. The contest, sponsored by the Missouri Pork Association, consisted of four swine judging classes and two sets of ten questions.

 

In the Senior Division, top team honors went to the Vernon County #2 Team. Team members included Paxton Dahmer, Trey Porter, Katelyn Robinson and Tanner Ellison. The second place Boone County Team included Elise Bailey, Aaron Mott, Ben Luebbering and Derek Strawn. In third place was the Yummy Bacons Team of Audrey Martin, Clayton Moore and Curtis Humphreys. The top individual in the Senior Division went to Paxton Dahmer.

 

In the Junior Division, top team honors went to the Vernon County #1 Team—members included Brayden Gast, Mason Forkner, Olivia Walrod and Stetson Wiss. The second place Tenners Team included Callie Jennings, Clayton Jennings, Tyne Wilson and Remington Isaacs. In third place was the Vernon County #2 Team of Mallorie Yokley, Annie Robinson and Rhett Forkner. Brayden Gast was the top individual in the Junior Division.

 

The top three teams and the highest individual in each division received a cash award, while the first place individual and each first place team member in each division also received a plaque.
