Mikalah Schafer, Springfield, Receives 2019 Missouri Pork Association Scholarship

Columbia, Mo.— Mikalah Schafer, a senior at Willard High School, has been chosen as a recipient of a $250 Missouri Pork Industry Scholarship from the Missouri Pork Association.

 

Mikalah is the daughter of Brian Schafer from Springfield. She is currently partner and herd manager for Schafer Brother Cattle Company. As part of her FFA SAE, she sells vegetables, eggs, milk/cheese, pork and beef. She has also worked for Hedricks Exotic Animal Farm and Farm Fresh Steakhouse and Bakery.

 

She is active in school organizations, has been chapter 2nd vice president and secretary of the

Willard FFA, vice president of the Area X FFA Association, and president of her 4-H Club. Mikalah is also in National Honor Society, softball, band and jazz band.

 

Upon graduating, Mikalah plans to attend the University of Missouri in Columbia and major in veterinary science with a double minor in agriculture business and agriculture communications. Her goal is to move back home and open her own large and small animal veterinary clinic.
