Columbia, Mo.,— Carlee Johnson, a senior at Chillicothe High School, has been chosen as a recipient of a $250 Missouri Pork Industry Scholarship from the Missouri Pork Association.
Carlee currently works on the family farm, caring for the cattle and swine. She exhibits her show pigs at the local, state and national levels. Carlee also assists with planting and harvesting on the farm. During the winter, she farrows a litter of pigs at the Litton Agricultural Campus in Chillicothe, and completes various duties around the facility in return.
She is very active in school activities, and is president of the Chillicothe FFA Chapter and the Show Me 4-H Club. She is also involved in Team Purebred, Missouri Berkshire Association, CHS Hunting and Fishing Club and FBLA.
Upon graduating, Carlee plans to attend the University of Missouri and major in agriculture education with a minor in animal science. Her ultimate goal is to become an agricultural education teacher.
Carlee is the daughter of Russ and Sheila Thompson of Laredo.
