The Missy North Memorial Scholarship
The Missy North Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the late Missy North, wife of Missouri pork producer Bob North. She loved raising pigs, and was very active in the industry. Bob and his family are making the scholarship available to a deserving student aspiring to play a role in the pork industry. They are partnering with the Missouri Pork Association to select candidates. A scholarship in the amount of $2,500 was awarded at the Missouri Pork Expo on February 9, 2016.
The 2016 winner was Lindsey Robinson from Wellsville, Missouri. Lindsey is the daughter of Eddie and Tammy Robinson of Wellsville, Missouri. She grew up on the family farm raising hogs and continues to work on the farm while attending college. She actively shows hogs statewide and nationally.
She is a member of the Agriculture Communicators of Tomorrow, CAFNR Student Development Board, Mizzou Block and Bridle Club where she serves as Swine Chair and has served as a CAFNR Corner Post staff writer. She is a youth mentor with the National Junior Swine Association, and is actively involved in the Coon Creek Cronies 4-H Club. Additional honors include a 2014 Missouri Youth Pork Ambassador Scholar, Dickinson Scholar and Agriculture Futures of America Scholar. She was an intern with the Missouri Soybean Association in 2015.
