The 2009 FFA Pork Speaking Contest
Sponsored by MFA Incorporated
The Missouri Pork Association continues its support of Missouri's youth
and FFA students by holding a speaking contest each year. Students
proceed through their area and district before reaching the state final,
where the top student in each of Missouri's six FFA districts competes
for the top prize.
The 2009 state finals will be held at the Missouri Pork
Expo in Columbia on February 11, 2009. MFA Incorporated sponsors the event.
2009 Contest Details:
Theme: Thriving...Not Just
Surviving
Contestants are encouraged to discuss how the industry is working to
thrive despite the current challenges.
Cash Awards:
MFA Incorporated sponsors the event, ensuring that
all six district-winning speakers will receive a cash award at the Expo.
First Place - $200
Second Place - $150
Third Place - $100
Other Participants - $50 each
Finals:
The finals will be held on February 11, 2009 during
the 2009 Missouri Pork Expo at the Holiday Inn Select Executive Center
in Columbia.
Contest Rules:
1. The general rules and regulations of the National
FFA Public Speaking Contests will govern the district and state
contests.2. The
contest will include a 6-8 minute presentation with a 5 minute question
session. Questions about the national and state organizations and
current pork industry issues will be included along with questions about
the speech. 3. As soon as the district
winner is selected, the local advisor must send the following material
to: Diane Slater, Missouri Pork Association, 6235 W. Cunningham Drive,
Columbia, MO 65202.
a. Four (4) double-spaced type-written copies of the speech
on 8.5" x 11" white paper.
b. A signed statement that the contestant's speech is the
result of their own work.
c. Bibliography must be included.
