Who Has Missouri’s Best Breaded Pork Loin?
Missouri Pork Association calling for entries in contest.
Columbia, Mo.,— A great breaded pork loin is a thing of beauty. Everyone has their favorite restaurant or bar and grill that serves the “best” sandwich around. And the Missouri Pork Association wants to know about it!
MPA is sponsoring the second “Missouri’s Best Breaded Pork Loin” contest. All full time Missouri restaurants, cafés and taverns serving breaded or battered pork loin sandwiches are eligible to participate. The winning restaurant will receive a plaque in recognition of the award, a $500 check and statewide publicity enhanced by a live radio remote, where possible.
In 2008, MPA crowned the Udder End Café in Boonville with the best breaded pork loin, and are not eligible to compete this year. So, do you have the best?
To apply, restaurants must submit an application, including a complete description of the product, and a picture of the dish to the Missouri Pork Association by June 12, 2009. Applications can be found online at www.mopork.com/consumers_bestbreadedloin.asp. Missourians should encourage their favorite breaded tenderloin sandwich artists to apply.
A selection committee will pick the top six applications from those entered. Then, an evaluation team will visit the six finalists to sample the dish. Results will be announced during October—Pork Month. Additional prizes will be awarded, including $300 for second place, $200 for third and $100 each for the remaining three finalists.
