Christine Tew Joins Missouri Pork Association
Spring Intern Spends Semester with MPA
Columbia, Mo., – On January 4, Christine Tew joined the Missouri Pork Association as the spring semester intern. She has worked with producers, consumers and industry professionals to promote and host events, including the Mid-Missouri Taste of Elegance and the Missouri Pork Expo. Her duties also include publication assistance for Missouri Pork Association promotional materials and legislative tracking during the 2008 session.
“Working for MPA has really put me on a learning curve,” Tew said. “I’ve gotten a crash course in animal agriculture issues, both economically and politically. During the Missouri Pork Expo, working with volunteering MPA board members reinforced classroom lessons about the importance of organization and communication.”
Tew is currently a senior at the University of Missouri, studying agricultural journalism and natural resources management. She will complete her undergraduate coursework in May, and begin graduate studies in parks, recreation and tourism in June. She plans to pursue a career in public education and agri-tourism.
She is a former intern of University of Missouri Extension and the Missouri Department of Conservation. Tew is the daughter of Cindy Tew of Scott City, Mo. and Dennis Tew of Benton, Mo. She is a 2004 graduate of Thomas W. Kelly High School in Benton, Mo. where she was an active member in the 4-H club and FFA chapter.
